The Tourist Police Division is a governmental organization under the Central Investigation Bureau, The Royal Thai Police. It was established according to the Royal Degree on the division of governmental organizations in The Royal Thai Police, The Ministry of Interior (the 17th) 2534 B.E. dated November 22, 2535 B.E. The Division started work on April 1, 2535 B.E., with the authority according to the Criminal Procedure Code and other laws relating to criminal offences all over the Kingdom in cases where the damaged parties are aliens abiding in the Kingdom temporarily for tourism purposes or other purposes within the Immigration Law. It is also the Divisions duty to provide assistance and safety for tourists as well as protect them, co-ordinate with other related organizations or work units, promote the revival of natural resources for tourism and accelerate the correction of enviromental problems.
Functions & Responsibilities of the Tourist Police Division:
- To suppress and to protect criminal problems encountered by international tourists.
- To facilitate and to provide both Thai and international tourists with the security and protection on their interest.
- To promote the Thai tourism industry.
- To join with or to support any activities of the authorities concerned.
