Volunteers
The Tourist Police (Foreigners) Volunteers Program was established in July 2008 with the help of Police Major (Police Inspector) Thanin Sujinprum, Police Senior Sergeant Major Seree Sura, Police Senior Sergeant Major Phaiboon Thanee and Police Vol. Sven P. Bouwens and Police Vol. John L. Legueurlier. The Volunteers donated free time/effort to assist the Tourist Police in their work. Many Volunteers also devote their nights so that they would be there to help tourists in trouble. The Tourist Police Volunteers do not receive any form of government funding and everybody works on a purely voluntary basis. Even now and in spite of the recent increase in tourism to the Buriram and Surin Regions, no provision has yet been made to help finance the Tourist Police Volunteers.
Currently we have Tourist Police Volunteers who are fluent in: Thai, English, French, German, Dutch, Svenska, Norwegian, Danish, Turkish, Nigerian, Burmese, and Chinese.
